Bean Town Gas
WSCR was all over a supposed story this morning that the Red Sox were trying to acquire A Rod from Texas in a 3 way deal that would send Nomar Garciopara to the Cubs with the Cubs sending a player to Texas.
Well, the real story says the BoSox would send Nomar to a west coast team, not the Cubs. The story DOES say that, "A-Rod would love to land in two other places: with the Mets; or with the Cubs, who have the kind of pitching that will make them contenders for the life of his current contract."
Let's even assume that the Cubs would take Nomar. Who whould Texas take? Simple. Wood. Bad deal. If Texas wants Wood, fine. The Cubs take A Rod. Other than that, pass.
But this whole kerfuffle is nothing. The Cubs ain't taking either of Nomar's contract (1-year left) or A Rod's (7 years left). And the BoSox aren't even talking to the Cubs.
