Love Shack

Sammy's bomb landed about 20 feet to my right and about 6 rows below me. But the bombs that mattered were those of A Gonz. If Alex can hit like this for about 12 more games, the sign will read AC000000. He's a bonus right now compared to what fans expected. And he's also needed. And maybe ARam got off the snide, too.

And a word to Sammy: It's the second inning in game 2 and you trail in the series 0-1. Big jack to put the team up 5-0. With 21 outs to get, NO CAP DOFFING! Take your cues from Prior and Wood, showboat.

Zamboni Iced?

Dusty let slip mixed signals on who starts game 5. Maybe Z, maybe not. I start him with a warm Cruz ready like an Alert 1 F-18 on the deck of the Nimitz.

History Lesson

2003 NLDS - Game 3: Chicago 3, Atlanta 1
1998 NLDS - Game 3: Atlanta 6, Chicago 2
1989 NLCS - Game 3: San Francisco 5, Chicago 4
1984 NLCS - Game 3: San Diego 7, Chicago 1
1945 WS - Game 3: Chicago 3, Detroit 0
1938 WS - Game 3: New York Yankees 3, Chicago 1
1935 WS - Game 3: Detroit 6, Chicago 5
1932 WS - Game 3: New York Yankees 12, Chicago 6
1929 WS - Game 3: Chicago 3, Philidelphia 1
1918 WS - Game 3: Boston 2, Chicago 1
1910 WS - Game 3: Philidelphia 12, Chicago 5
1908 WS - Game 3: Detroit 8, Chicago 3
1907 WS - Game 3: Chicago 5, Detroit 1
1906 WS - Game 3: Chicago (AL) 3, Chicago (NL) 0

What do we see? The Cubs have won game 3 of a postseason series 4 times out of 14 attempts. Two of the times they won game 3, they won the series. Only once have they lost game 3 (1908) and won a series.

Must win tomorrow.
